A team from the GlobalEyes Network travelled to southern Ontario in late August to deliver specialized training in the GlobalEyes Global Citizenship Program (GCP). Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic District School Board hosted the training at the Donald Gordon Conference Centre at Queen’s University in Kingston. Also participating in the two-day training session were representatives from Greater Essex County District School Board and Upper Canada District School Board.
GlobalEyes Associate Joyce Millman, CEO Paul Millman, and COO Lauren van Tol provided the theory and philosophy of an intentional Global Citizenship Program and led the group through developing the building blocks for a board-specific, local-centric program of their own. Participants found the sessions information-packed and practical and returned to their regions with a framework for moving forward.
CEO Millman said of the training, “It was nice to take the GCP on the road to Ontario and deliver a strong package to participants. This is the first stage of a training series that will lead boards to better meet the needs of domestic students, schools, and communities first, and, as such, provide better service to international students.”
