Frequently Asked Questions
What is the GUS Convenience Fee?
The GUS Convenience Fee is a mandatory, per-application fee that helps maintain and improve the GUS platform while funding agent incentives. It is collected at the time of submitting a student application on GUS. The amount depends on the type of application: $250 CAD for full-year or semester applications, and $150 CAD for short-term (<3 months) or camp applications.
Agents have the flexibility to decide who pays the fee upfront—it can be paid by the agency or directly by the student’s family. Regardless of who pays, the convenience fee must be paid at the time of application submission. An application cannot be processed until the Convenience Fee is paid in full.
Some programs may require their application fee to be paid at this time. In this case, there will be two separate payments.
How is the Convenience Fee paid?
The Convenience Fee is paid by credit card through Flywire during the student application submission process on GUS. This step is integrated into the platform for a smooth and secure transaction experience.
Will families see this as an additional fee?
No. The Convenience Fee is built into the total program price you quote to families. It is not listed separately, so they will not see it as an extra charge.
Do I have to pay the Convenience Fee myself?
Not necessarily. If you prefer, you can simply share the GUS application link directly with the family, allowing them to complete personal details of the application and pay the Convenience Fee, before returning it to you for submission to the program.
What happens if the Convenience Fee isn’t paid?
Your application won’t be sent to the school/program until the Convenience Fee is paid. The platform will walk you through each step and let you know once payment is complete.
What’s the benefit to me as an agent?
You earn a cash incentive for every application submitted on GUS. For each full-year or semester student, you receive $100 CAD. For each short-term (<3 mos) or camp application, you receive $50 CAD. These incentives accumulate in your agent profile and can be claimed once you reach the payment threshold.
When do I receive my incentive payment?
Incentives are paid out once your total reaches $2,500 CAD. At that point, you’ll receive an email with an invoice template and instructions on how to claim your funds. You may choose to continue accumulating your total beyond $2,500, but early payouts are not available. This is a running total that does not reset annually.
How do I know how much I’ve earned?
You’ll receive bi-annual email updates showing your total accumulated incentives. These reports will be sent to you automatically. If you ever need your balance in between updates, feel free to reach out to our support team at [email protected].
Can I get paid before I reach $2,500?
No. Incentives are only paid out once the $2,500 CAD threshold is reached. However, there is no time limit—you can take as long as you need to accumulate the amount, and your total will continue to grow with each application you submit.
Where can I get help or support?
If you have any questions or run into issues, don’t hesitate to reach out to us at [email protected].

Working with a Program not on GUS?
You could be earning more faster. If you’re working with a school that’s not on GUS, you’re missing out on eligible applications that count toward your $2,500 payout threshold. When your partner programs join GUS, it means faster access to your incentive and a smoother, centralized workflow for both of you.
We’ve made it easy to bring them on board—just download our ready-to-send email template and invite your school partners to join the platform!
